Bushey - Contemporary Extension

A bold addition to a historic home

We were asked by our clients to extend their historic home in Bushey. It was important that the proposal was sympathetic to the existing architecture, whilst adding a contemporary feel.

The house used to be approached from the opposite side and the main entrance is located on what is now the rear elevation. As such part of JDA’s brief was to add a new family entrance next to the driveway and parking area. The extension also accommodates the kitchen, utility room, dining and family sitting areas. It features a tall, vaulted ceiling with full-height windows at each end providing a double aspect, filling the room with natural light and offering far-reaching views.
